However, when assessing the exterior, height and weight are secondary: it is much more important to match the appearance of the animal with other parameters. The breed standard describes the Siberian as a medium to large cat, with muscular limbs and a short, sturdy neck. The paws are large and round; the so-called tassels grow between the pads. The bushy tail reaches the shoulder blades, is abundantly pubescent, slightly tapering towards the tip.
The head of the Siberian cat is trapezoidal, with smooth contours, in proportion to the body, with a slight transition in profile. The nose is wide and flat along its entire length.
The chin is rounded, but not prominent, roughly in line with the nose. The cheekbones are wide and set low, the forehead is slightly convex.
The eyes are large, oval in shape, with rounded lower eyelids, set wide and slightly at an angle. They must be uniform in color and in harmony with the color of the coat. The most common shades range from orange to green. Colors of the color-point group assume exclusively blue eye color: the more saturated it is, the better.
The ears are of moderate size, with slightly rounded tips, wide at the base. Their coat is short and thin. Sometimes there are tassels that look like lynxes or squirrels. The ears are set wide. It is noticeable that they are slightly inclined forward.
The coat is of medium length. The undercoat is dense, but very soft in texture, covered on top with a harder top coat. This cover provides the coat with a characteristic shine, moreover, it has moisture-repellent properties, protecting the Siberian cat from getting wet. On the chest, neck, tail and "pants" the coat of the breed is especially long. The lower part of the body has no cover hair.
The disadvantages are:
-overly long and slender neck;
-"Light" narrow muzzle, straight profile, high cheekbones;
-flat cheeks and weak chin;
-short or poorly pubescent tail;
-overgrown undercoat, as well as its absence;
-hair without shine on the back and rump;
-short body, weak bones, small legs;
-lack of tufts of hair between the pads of the paws;
-too big or tiny ears;
-wrong set of ears;
-pronounced features of the "Persian type".
